KEY INFORMATION AND DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
Welcome to the Parents’ Information Page. Below is a set of tabs with important information regarding premium offerings, documents & those all-important term dates for the upcoming academic years.
PUPIL PREMIUM
DATA AND ACTION PLAN
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011. The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for FSM in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months. Each January the Government undertake a census of schools to determine the number of pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium. Based on this information schools receive the grant in April for the next financial year.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. From September 2012, schools are required to publish online information about how they have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium.
PE & SPORTS PREMIUM
DATA AND ACTION PLAN
In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.
Funding will be allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary phase pupils, including: primary, middle, special and non-maintained special schools, academies and pupil referral units from 1 September 2013.
Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

All pupils are valued at our school and we work to promote pupils self-esteem and emotional well-being whilst helping them to form and maintain worthwhile relationships based on respect for themselves and others.
We are committed to inclusion, meeting individual needs, an inclusive environment and the provision of the highest quality for all students and the efficient use of resources.

OFSTED
RAISING STANDARDS, IMPROVING LIVES
Our school was last inspected by Ofsted in September 2016.
We were delighted to be classed as a good school. Here are some quotes from the report:
- The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection.
- Kingsland Primary has strengthened as a result of effective leadership. Pupils are confident and happy and a range of improvements have been secured since the last inspection.
- The local authority recognises Kingsland’s strengths and acknowledges the expertise you are able to share with other schools in Birmingham.
- You are quick to respond to any gaps and, as a result, levels of attainment are now in line with or above those found nationally.
- During the inspection, I met with a group of teachers who were able to describe what they have learned from the training they have attended. This included a good knowledge of issues relating to child sexual exploitation and radicalisation. Your teachers were able to describe the possible indicators of abuse and the action that they would take if they had a concern
- Teachers are also given opportunities to share practice and learn from one another.
ADMISSIONS
JOIN THE KINGSLAND FAMILY
At Kingsland we follow the Birmingham Local Authority criteria for admission to our Reception classes.
If we are oversubscribed, the following criteria is applied in this order:
1. Children in Public Care (looked after children)
2. Children who have an older sibling already in attendance at the school when the application is made and who will be attending the school at the proposed admission date.
3. Children for whom a place at the school is essential on medical or social grounds and is supported in writing by a medical practitioner or a social worker.
4. Distance will be measured in a straight line from the centre point of the home address to the centre point of the school address with those living closer to the school receiving the higher priority.
Whilst admissions to the school reception classes should be made through Birmingham City Council, admissions for the Kingsland Nursery should be made directly to school. We will allocate places following the same guidelines as the Birmingham Council criteria below.
Please contact us if you require more details about the above criteria or click this link for more information on the Local Authority arrangements and for dates for applications.
